Séisme de magnitude 7.8 du 13 novembre 2016, Nouvelle Zélande

Le 13 novembre 2016, à 11h03 heure TU (00h03 le 14 novembre heure locale), un violent séisme de magnitude Mw=7.8 a eu lieu dans la partie nord de l'Ile du sud de la nouvelle Zélande.  L'épicentre du séisme était à environ 100 km au nord de Christchurch.  Ce séisme a été ressenti dans l'ensemble de la Nouvelle Zélande jusqu'à près de 800 km de l'épicentre.

Tremblement de terre du 24 août 2016 dans le Latium (Italie):

Un séisme important (magnitude Mw 6.0, profondeur 4 km) a touché la zone de Rieti au nord de Rome et de l'Aquila. Le choc principal du séisme a eu lieu à 3h36 et les villages les plus touchés sont Accumoli, Amatrice, Arquata del Tronto. La ville de Norcia située à 17 km de l’épicentre a aussi fortement ressenti ce séisme.

Earthquake in the Emilia region (Italy), May 2012

On May 20th and May 29th, 2010,a series of earthquakes with a magnitude above 5 hit the Emilia region, near Ferrara, north of Bologna.

The French Association for Earthquake Engineering went to Aquila area from 18 to 24 avril 2009 thanks to MEEDDAT in order to get information on the ground behaviour, the buldings, the crisis management, and the event perception by the inhabitants.

Guadeloupe earthquake (December 19th, 2014)

A major earthquake (with a 5.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale) was registered on Friday, December 19th, 2014 at 3:49PM (local time) and its origin was tectonic. The epicenter was identified 5km north-north-west of Le Lamentin, and was 119km undergound (that is, a hypocentral distance of approximately 119km).

April 7th, 2014 earthquake in the Southern Alps

A major earthquake has occured on Monday, April 7th, 2014 at 9:27PM local time (7:27PM GMT time), in the town of Saint-Paul-Sur-Ubaye (about fifteen kilometres north of Barcelonnette) - on the border separating the Hautes-Alpes and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence departments.

On April 1st, 2014, a magnitude Mw=8,2 earthquake (according to the USGS and the CSN, National Seismology Center, University of Chili) occured at 8:46PM local time (1:46AM on April 2nd, French time). The earthquake took place in the region of Iquique, approximately 1500km north of Santiago de Chile.

Van earthquake (Turkey) - October 23st, 2011

On Sunday, October 23st, 2011 at 1:41PM local time, a strong earthquake (magnitude 7,2) occured 10km underground, near the city of Van in east Turkey. The earthquake caused many deaths and considerable damage to constructions.

Lorca earthquake (Spain), May 11th, 2011

Lorca, a town of about 60 000 inhabitants in the Murcia region in Spain, was hit on May 11th, 2011 by a magnitude Mw5.1 earthquake. The earthquake was situated less than 2km away from the town center and the earthquake was only 3km deep. Nine people died and about 250 people were injured. The AFPS and the BRGM, as well as the portuguese earthquake engineering association (SPES) took part in the mission organized by the Spanish Association for Earthquake Engineering (AEIS) and some of its members from the Université Polytechnique de Catalogne (UPC) and the Geological Institute of Catalogna (IGC) in Barcelona between May 24th and May 28th.
